  A Choice of Life: Navigating Lifes Choices In life there are all kinds of ups and downs. Sometimes our ups can reach as high as mountain tops, sometimes our lows can bring us all the way down and beneath who we are. It takes going low to understand true depth. As deep as the oceans are, their depth compares not to my mind. The raging currents of the ocean ripping through the tides as they flow with raging speed, but nothing compared to the speed of light. Speed of light can't keep up with my mind. That's why my thoughts are the darkest in times of light.  As I reach for the stars from the tops of mountains never coming close just thinking about them I realize that in all my time the reach is further than my climb. Still I imagine what it is like to sit on a star and view the night. Yet here I am in the middle of the fight, looking for the light at the end of the tunnel. Yet I see none, not even in death where some experiences say the light was there and then in my experience...

My journey has been graced by numerous mentors, starting with my sensei, and extending to my father and those I hold dear as family. They've taught me that mentors can wield great power, capable of causing immense harm or effecting profound good. I've come to understand that mentors need not be familiar faces or possess greater status; wisdom is a gift bestowed by anyone willing to share. The act of sharing a personal experience often imparts the knowledge one has gained from living through that experience. Such shared experiences help us navigate familiar waters.
